Today, I got a mail from a 14 years of girl from USA, who asked me a question, "Who is Rumi-The poet?"
First of all I am so glad a teenager asked me this question. Well, Rumi was a lot more than a poet. He was a sufi, philosopher, traveler and a person who had immense knowledge. Born in 1207, to an Islamic scholar, Rumi had to leave their home town Balkh. Along with his family he traveled to various places including Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Tajiksta, Saudi Arabia and Turky. When Rumi was 39 years old, he met Shams-e Tabriz, with whom his poetic talents were polished. Rumi is still an compelling figure in many societies and cultures. He has many followers all across the globe. Rumi wrote 3000 love songs for Shams and 2000 rubayats and many more.Music became his religious practice and he was a great sufi artist who mixed poetry, dance and music as a mode of meditation.
Below mentioned are few of his inspiring quotes. Hope you liked it. Keep writing to me!
